The only thing I haven't really looked into is whether esata to usb conversion is possible.
I couldn't find any firewire to usb adapter that will for sure not be a waste of money. The external drive only takes esata, firewire 800/400 and mini usb 2.0. In a few simple steps you are ready to go and can save your back-up files to the external drive, keeping your information safe and giving you peace of mind.
I uninstalled the usb drivers from the device manager and reinstalled them. Part 2: Format External Hard Drive for Mac with Disk Utility Reformatting an external hard drive for use with Mac OS is not as difficult as it might seem. I right click it in the control panel to troubleshoot the device, and I get a window that says it may not work due to being a usb 2.0 device. Give me the option to yes/no format the disk. It doesn't appear as a drive in file explorer. It appears as a device in the control panel. The external drive powers on and lights up. I can't seem to get the intended results from installing hfs+ and then hfs explorer. Not that it's the only website that I looked at, but I found one that seems to tie together most options that are out there besides purchasing another apple computer. I have neither Paragon or Macdrive installed on my hp laptop. I had at the time broke down a few years later. I'm using model 15au123cl hp laptop (intel core i5 7th gen) and WD external drive wd3200H1Q-00. I'm stuck trying to get my apple formatted drive to be read on my pc laptop.
